Weatherday at DRKMTTR

On October 3rd, noise pop artist, Weatherday touched down in Nashville to play an unforgettable concert. Hailing all the way from Sweden, Weatherday’s sound combines glitchy electronics with heart felt vocal performances culminating in powerfully energetic concert.

In between songs, bits and pieces of the member’s personalities were revealed through their on-stage banter as they stopped to tune or check their set list. This revealed a set of down-to-earth individuals: made up of drummer, bass and guitarist/vocalist, Weatherday does not fail to deliver a full sound on stage. This is especially incredible since their second guitarist was unable to make the concert due to visa issues. Frontman Sputnik provides a mix of both rhythm guitar and lead guitar.

Throughout the venue, the crowd was equally energetic as the band, who throughout the whole performance clashed and swirled into each other only to calm down at the more intimate songs. They moshed, crowd surfed, and just overall created a contagious energy felt throughout the whole room. Additionally, the people over at DRKMTTR collective did an amazing job setting the show up, rolling out a projector for dreamy visuals behind all the bands.

The 3 opening bands (Brief Skin, Sour tooth, and postcard nowhere) really showed how unique and thriving the Nashville music scene has become. at one point, postcard nowhere used an old land line phone as their microphone which gave them a very textured and Lo-Fi sound that paralleled Weatherday’s vibe.

Additionally, Weatherday’s sound infiltrated local college acts too. We talked to poorly drawn’s guitarist and vocalist Walker who expressed how much Weatherday had inspired both him and his band mates to make music, even revealing that the name “poorly drawn” comes from Weatherday’s song Come in.

Overall, this show really showed the passion and magic of music through both fans and bands alike making it a very special night. Ig you ever see that see that Weatherday is on tour around Nashville, the WMTS press team heavily recommends going to see them perform.
